About
Ruben Russo picked up a camera at sixteen and never really put it down.
What started as shooting food and interiors for restaurants and bars across Brisbane has grown into nine years of work spanning independent film, fashion, real estate, hospitality, and everything in between. Along the way he's worn a lot of hats — photographer, director, producer, writer — but the through line has always been the same: making things look and feel exactly right.
In 2023, Ruben produced Arlo and the Sea, a short film that went on to win 19 awards across festivals in the USA, UK, Greece, and Australia, and holds an 8.7 on IMDB. He followed that with All of Us at River's End in 2025 — written, produced, and directed independently, screened internationally, and seen by over 10,000 people worldwide.
As Creative Director of Studio Salt, he built and led a team of creatives delivering over 1,000 commercial projects a year across fashion, real estate, and hospitality.
He shoots both film and digital, works across photo and video, and brings the same attention to detail to a restaurant campaign as he does to a festival film.
